Inmigrantes....2ª parte. Inmigrants...2nd Part

(continuación del post anterior)...Como inmigrantes que somos en la era de la información nacimos con un solo disco duro en el cerebro: el disco análogico. Por eso no nos ha quedado más remedio que hacer una partición un poco rapida para habilitar un segundo disco duro: el de lo digital, el de la información. De esta manera tenemos dos compartimentos estancos en un único cerebro. De esta manera enfrentamos lo analógico a lo digital, lo online a lo offline, la tv a la internet, el movil al fijo, el inalámbrico al móvil, el fax al mail, la web a la publicidad, el ejecutivo al creativo, la tecnología a la tradición, la tecnología a lo tradicional, la tecnología a nuestro futuro. Enfrentamos continuamente esos dos mundos y por tanto siempre salimos perdiendo. Los nativos, nacidos en la sociedad de la información no diferencian el inalámbrico del móvil (porque los dos són móviles), no enfrentan la tecnología al futuro porque es su presente, no diferencian lo off de lo online, porque viven y disfruta de una sociedad multimedia. Los nativos no hacen sino entender lo que McLuhan ya escribía hace 70 años: el medio es el mensaje. Los inmigrantes a la sociedad de la información, hemos tenido tiempo más que suficiente para tomar conciencia de ello, pero...hemos intentado retrasar al máximo la evidencia, esperando poder llegar a la jubilación sin tener que reciclarnos.

(following previous post)... As immigrants that we are in the age of the information we were born with just one hard disk in our brain: the analogical one. That's why we have had to make a hard drive partition to enable the second hard disk to fit: the digital one, that of the information age. Hereby we have two compartments monopolies in only one brain. Hereby we face the analogical world to the digital one, the online world to the offline, the tv to the internet, the mobile devices to the wired one, the wireless phones to the cellulars, the fax to the mail, the web to the advertising, the account executives to the creative people, the technology to the tradition, the technology to the traditional thing, the technology to our future. We constantly face these two worlds and therefore always we go out losing. The native people who were born in the society of the information do not differentiate the wireless phone from the mobile one because the two are just wireless, they do not face the technology to the future because it is their present. They do not take apart the online from the offline world since they know how to enjoy a multimedia environment.
The native people understand what Mcluhan already wrote around 70 years ago: the Medium is the Massage. We, the immigrants to the society of the information have had more than enough time to be aware of it, but ... we have tried to delay to the maximum the evidence, waiting to be able to come to the retirement without having to understand the changes happening.
